Iron Mountain Hot Springs, nestled along the banks of the Colorado River in Glenwood Springs, features  16 small, uniquely shaped pools with 100% pure thermal, iron-rich, mineral water that flows up from deep within Iron Mountain. Temperatures range from 98 to 108 degrees and are regulated individually for each pool.

Visitors have been frequenting these unforgettable hot springs pre-dating the arrival of Europeans to the American West. The Native Americans who inhabited the area during the summer hunting season considered the waters to have healing and curative powers. In the 19th century, settlers built the West Glenwood Health Spa surrounding the pools to enjoy the rejuvenating nature of the hot springs’ waters.

You can expect incredible views of the surrounding mountains and the impressive Mt. Sopris situated just up river from the hot springs.

Children 5 and above are allowed at the hot springs themselves, however, the smaller hot pools are within a quiet zone to maintain a relaxing and peaceful ambiance. There is a large freshwater pool for all ages that is maintained at 94 degrees. It also has a gently curving ramp to accommodate wheelchairs and persons of limited mobility. The family pool also has an elevated whirlpool with waterfall, kept at about 100 degrees, where parents can relax and keep on eye on the kids.

In order to make your visit the best experience possible, the facility includes a well-appointed bathhouse with changing rooms, lockers, showers, and bathrooms. It also houses a gift shop with a full complement of swimwear, sunscreen, pool accessories, shirts, hats, and great locally made gift items.

If you get hungry, The Sopris Café serves lunch and dinner with a variety of sandwiches, salads, wraps, flat-bread pizzas, smoothies, ice cream, and other snacks. It also has a selection of hot and cold beverages including beer, wine, and pre-mixed cocktails. The poolside Sandbar is open near the hot pools and is open year-round.

The hot springs are open year round from 9am-10pm daily, and there is seasonal and annual pricing for adults and kids.

While you’re visiting, spend the weekend and enjoy some thrill rides or a cave tour at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park!
