officer stabbing boulder

Patricia Murphy, 61, allegedly stabbed a Boulder Police Officer in the shoulder with a knife on Wednesday evening. Police had responded to Lucky's Market on a report that Murphy would not leave the store and was acting "erratically," police said.

Boulder police arrested a woman Wednesday night after she allegedly stabbed an officer.

Police responded to the 3900 block of Broadway in North Boulder around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday regarding a female suspect with a knife refusing to leave the Lucky's Market store, according the Boulder Police Department.

Officers were told the woman was acting erratically, speaking nonsense and had mud on her face, the department said in a Thursday press release.

Police spoke with the woman — later identified as 61-year-old Patricia Murphy — for "several minutes" before she pulled out a knife, allegedly stabbed an officer in the shoulder and began lunging at another, police said.

Additional officers arrived and eventually fired less lethal sponge rounds at Murphy, subduing her.

The officer was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Murphy was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault, felony menacing, trespassing and resisting arrest.

The shopping center located at the address is the location of Lucky’s Market, Lucky’s Bakehouse and Lucky’s Bakehouse Café. One bystander, identified as Peter Wayne, posted a view of the police presence outside via social media platform X.
