This free campground east of Lake City is nestled in a beautiful canyon with a handful of tent-only sites along Cebolla Creek. It is a primitive campground with a vault toilet but no water or trash service and is first-come, first-served. Campsites are located under high cliffs and get little direct sunlight. Trails penetrate the Powderhorn Wilderness north of the campground and the La Garita Wilderness to the south, offering solitude in two of Colorado’s lesser-visited wilderness areas. ATV and dirt bike riders will find a great road and trail network to the east as Forest Service Road 788 leaves the wilderness areas and enters the green Cochetopa Hills.
