According to Colorado State Patrol, an avalanche occurred at Loveland Ski Area on Friday. The avalanche was determined to be skier-triggered and happened after a skier entered closed terrain. Though the terrain was within the in-bounds area of Loveland Ski Area, it was not open at the time.

The slide is said to have occurred at 2:30 PM and was reported by a guest at 2:34 PM. Search crews immediately went into action, determining that no one was trapped in the slide a few hours later.

While no one was hurt this time, this case shows the importance of following the rules while on the slopes. Terrain is often closed or open depending on whether or not it’s been determined to be safe enough to ski on. Take these closures seriously.
