On April 19, Poudre Fire Authority responded to the report of a submerged vehicle in Horsetooth Reservoir, which is a popular outdoor recreation destination in the Fort Collins area.

Their crew worked with the Larimer County Rangers and the Larimer County Dive Team to access and search the vehicle, also helping to remove the vehicle from the water and control leaking fuel.

In days that have followed, additional details that have been released include that a deceased male party was found inside of the Nissan SUV. That said, the current report is that the male died due to exposure, not the crash itself. Information related to what a 'exposure death' may be in this scenario was not released.

Additional information related to the identification of the deceased party and the official cause of death may be released in upcoming days by the Larimer County Coroner's Office.
