Chimney View Campground at North Sterling State Park sits atop a broad ridge next to Inlet Grove Campground to the south. The 44-site campground has no-frills, non-electric sites with pull-through drives, shade shelters over picnic tables, fire pits, and tent pads. Tents can also be pitched on the grass. A vault toilet sits in the middle of the loop, while a camper services building at the east end offers restrooms with flush toilets, coin-operated showers, laundry facilities, and a meeting room. A RV dump station is near the campground entrance. Saturday evening campfire programs are held at the park amphitheater at the east end of the campground. Generators at Chimney View must be turned off during quiet hours between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. since tent campers are disturbed by their noise.

Pro Tips

  • You’ll want to reserve a campsite, especially during the busy summer months. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance. The park recommends reserving at least two months prior to holiday weekends or if you want to book multiple sites for grounds. Campers without reservations are out of luck if all sites are reserved.
  • We recommend checking the weather forecast both before arriving and while at the park since Chimney View Campground is exposed to strong winds and weather. Use heavy-duty stakes to hold down your tent.
  • Chimney View Campground is centrally located to lots of park activities. Take a looping trail down a hill to the swim beach or take a hike on three short trails—Beach, Sunset Cove, and Overlook Loop trails. The South Shoreline Trail begins at the south side of neighboring Inlet Grove Campground, then wanders along the scenic sandy shore for 3.1 miles to the west trailhead.
  • Recommended season(s): Closed October 1 to April 15.
