As the snow melts and temperatures rise the signs of spring are beginning to show, and one of the most beautiful is Colorado's colorful wildflowers. According to Travel & Leisure, Crested Butte is home to the most beautiful flower field in the U.S.

To create the rankings, Travel & Leisure conducted a study in which eye-tracking software was used to record which images people's eyes naturally lingered on. The longer the participants looked at an image the higher the flower field ranked. An image of the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival tied with Monet's Garden in Giverny for second place. Both had an "average fixation length" of 3.46 seconds.

The Daisy Flower Field in Chile's Torres del Paine National Park took first place with an average fixation length of 3.89 seconds.

As it is nicknamed the "Wildflower Capital of Colorado," it should come as no surprise that Crested Butte has some of the country's most spectacular wildflower fields. The fields are set among the Rocky Mountains, and feature snow lilies, slipper orchids, dwarf larkspur, and blue columbines.

The Crested Butte Wildflower Festival highlights the area's wildflowers, offering over 200 workshops in everything from painting, pollination, and photography to culinary arts and led hikes. The festival will take place from July 12-21, and you can get more information about it here.
