Nestled in the Rocky Mountain Foothills is a rather unknown but very special teahouse. Found in Boulder, this beautiful Persian teahouse was built over nearly 2 years entirely by hand, without the use of any power tools.

As part of a sister cities program, the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse was gifted to the city of Boulder by Mayor Maksud Ikramov of Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The teahouse was originally created by 40 master artisans in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and then disassembled, crated, and sent halfway around the world to be reconstructed in the city of Boulder. The intricate and colorful style of the teahouse reflects traditional Persian Art inspired by a place of gathering where friends can meet up, share a laugh, and drink tea together.

Today, the teahouse reminds locals and visitors of cultural diversity, global cooperation, and international friendship.

Step inside the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse to discover true craftsmanship between hand-carved and hand-painted ceilings, tables, stools, columns, and exterior ceramic panels. Look up for a message engraved in the ceiling that reads “artisans of ancient Khojand whose works are magical.”
