Waterton Canyon will remain open on Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, for weekend recreation. Waterton Canyon trailhead is located approximately 20 miles southwest of downtown Denver off South Wadsworth Blvd in Littleton.
“Waterton Canyon is an extremely popular recreation destination, and we recognize that the two-week, weekday closure is an inconvenience,” Brandon Ransom, manager of recreation for Denver Water said. “By taking the time to reduce the dust early in the season, we’ll be able to provide a better experience for hikers, bikers and runners throughout the rest of the summer.”
The Colorado Trail's northern terminus starts or stops at Waterton Canyon for hikers and bikers looking to experience a unique Colorado recreational experience.
The first 6.7 miles of the Waterton Canyon Trail is administered by Denver Water for hiking, biking and horse riding traffic (no dogs allowed).
