With lovingly manicured grounds, breathtaking views of the San Juan Mountains and lithium-rich water that will lull you into a daze, Orvis Hot Springs is a must-visit the next time your travels take you to the Ouray-Ridgway-Telluride region. This clothing-optional resort features seven pools of varying temperatures, from 98 degrees to the 112-degree Lobster Pot, which is lovely on a cold winter night. You can stay in a hotel-style room or camp, though campsites are really just a row of wooden platforms in the parking lot. That’s okay. You’re there to soak, not hang out at camp, right?

Pro Tips

  • The mountains around Ridgway are some of the most rugged and scenic in Colorado, often called the “American Alps.” So plan a hike around nearby Ouray during your visit. Because you can’t just soak all day, can you?
  • For privacy, visit one of the indoor hot tubs, shut the door and forget about the world for a while.
  • No electronics – phones or even e-readers – are allowed around the pools, so unplug and enjoy the peacefulness.
  • Recommended season(s): Year-round.
