Healing Waters Resort & Spa is an affordable, laid-back hot spring option in southwest Colorado. Located in downtown Pagosa Springs, the commercial site has three soaking options: a big outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, and indoor, clothing-optional and gender-specific baths in the bathhouse, along with steam rooms. Spa and massage services are offered here, and you can rent a cabin or an RV space, or stay in the 14-room motel. Day soakers are also welcome. Sleeping accommodations include free Wi-Fi, cable TV and coffee machines, and some rooms have kitchenettes, but if you don’t mind hoofing it, restaurants are within walking distance, or you can pack a lunch and take advantage of the onsite picnic area.

Pro Tips

  • Don’t bring glass to any soaking area at a hot spring, as a broken bottle will force the site to close for cleaning. Use reusable, plastic, or metal containers near the pool.
  • Lots of easy hikes are available in Pagosa Springs, including the paved trail of the San Juan River Walk. Go for a hike, shower, and then enjoy a dip back at the hot springs pool.
  • After a good soak and a nap, head back into town for dinner and drinks at the Alley House Grille or Pagosa Brewing & Grill. Both restaurants have veg-friendly options!
  • For more excitement in Pagosa Springs, visit a local outfitter for kayaking, tubing, standup paddle boarding or a whitewater rafting adventure on the San Juan River, Piedra River, or the Rio Chama.
  • Recommended season(s): Year-round.
