As most are still enjoying the first big snow of the 2018-2019 soon-to-be ski season, the winter weather forecast has just been kicked up a notch. Powder that’s currently dumping around the state will soon be accompanied by frigid temperatures dipping down into the single-digits in some areas, according to mountain forecast extraordinaire Joel Gratz. His most recent prediction for this latest wave of storms lists Monday morning as the coldest of the season thus far with temperatures around the state in the teens and single-digits following winter conditions that are expected to amplify across the state on Sunday.

Cold weather won’t be restricted to high-altitude area of Colorado either, with Sunday projected to dip down to a high of 30 in Colorado Springs and 27 degrees with snow in Denver. The low in Denver on Sunday? 12 degrees.

As winter continues to rear its head seemingly early this season, make sure you use caution while getting around the mountains. At least one resort is opening this weekend and more are opening soon, so it’s a great time to start preparing for winter driving. Here are a few tips for while you’re on the road and here’s what should be in your trunk until next summer.
