On April 17 at about 2 p.m., officers from the Pueblo Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance related to animal cruelty at an RV park off of I-25.

When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with the suspect and determined he had a 'Failure to Appear' warrant.

Police officers attempted to arrest the suspect. At that point, the suspect pulled a firearm out of his pocket. One of the officers at the scene shot the suspect in response.

Police then provided the suspect with medical aid before he was transported to a hospital with critical injuries. Once at the hospital, the suspect was determined to be deceased. No officers were injured.

The officers who were involved have been placed on administrative leave per protocol. The deceased suspect has not been identified.

Note to self - never pull a firearm on anyone also armed, especially someone authorized to use it!
