Colorado's mountains certainly offer plenty of opportunities to wear yourself out, and sometimes there's nothing better than some good pizza to wind down and reenergize after a long day of hiking or skiing. Here are some of the best pizza places among Colorado's wonderful mountain towns that are sure to satisfy even the strongest of pizza cravings.

1. Alpine Pizza Company

This Detroit-style pizza place is located in Vail, and specializes in roni-cups and the "infamous crispy cheese edge." According to their website, the restaurant makes their dough every day to ensure high-quality pizza. Plus it's located only steps away from the Lionshead Gondola, so you can stop for pizza as soon as you're done skiing.

2. Brown Dog Pizza

This Telluride restaurant features a variety of pizza styles, including Detroit Square Pizza, thin-crust pizza, and more. Brown Dog Pizza won first place as the top-scoring American at the Pizza World Championships in Italy in 2013, and owner Jeff Smokevitch was also the first American to place top three in the Pizza Triathlon Division. According to Yelp reviewers, the prices are affordable and the place has an energetic and lively atmosphere.

3. Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub (Salida)

With pizza, hot sandwiches, salads, and appetizers Moonlight offers a relaxed setting for lunch or dinner. The food is made with fresh ingredients, and the menu includes creative pizzas. Yelp reviewers claim that "the ingredients are top notch and the crust is consistently 'just right.'" The modern rustic joint also features a foosball table and patio.

4. Amicas Pizza & Microbrewery

Amicas offers wood-fired pies and craft beer in "bright, laid-back digs." The Salida restaurant boasts a fun, family-friendly, energetic atmosphere, and works to keep their food as clean and locally sourced as possible. The menu includes plenty of pasta, salads, and woodfired pizza to choose from.

5. Beau Jo's

This restaurant is home to the "world-famous Colorado Mountain Pie," named for its "mountains of crust that create a one-of-a-kind containment system for your pizza topping of choice." As the creator of "Colorado-style pizza," Beau Jo's has locations in Arvada, Evergreen, Fort Collins, Idaho Springs, Steamboat Springs, and Lone Tree.

6. Secret Stash Pizza

This eclectic restaurant in Crested Butte features gourmet pizzas with unique toppings. The menu includes specialty pizzas like the famous Notorious F.I.G., made with blue cheese crumbles and black mission figs, and the Booty Call, loaded with meat and cheese. Yelp reviewers rave about both the pizza and the excellent service.

7. High Mountain Pies

This pizza place is located up in Leadville, so the pizza is made fresh at 10,200 feet every day. The restaurant serves pizzas, calzones, and sandwiches in a laid-back eatery. Yelp reviewers describe the location as charming, with stunning mountain views.

8. Propaganda Pie

Located in the "enchanting mountain village" of Redstone (on the banks of the Crystal River), this restaurant serves Detroit-Style deep-dish pizza, sandwiches, wings, and more. The restaurant also has great views of the river, Yelp reviewers claim.

9. Crave BV

Located in Buena Vista, this restaurant sources as many local and organic, fresh ingredients as it can. Many Yelp reviewers discuss the fun atmosphere, good food, and variety of pizzas, pasta, and sandwiches.

10. Hernando's Pizza Pub (Winter Park)

Uniquely decorated with dollar bills covering the walls, this Winter Park restaurant offers a plethora of pizza and pasta options. Yelp reviewers love the vibrant, lively atmosphere of the place.
