One of Colorado’s most famous cycling events won’t take place in 2024.

Ride The Rockies, which has taken hundreds of riders along routes that explored some of Colorado’s most picturesque and challenging terrain, won’t take place this year, due to a lack of registrations, according to event organizers.

The annual cycling event has taken place since 1986, although it had previously been cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been run in recent years by Venture Endurance Events.

On the Ride The Rockies website, organizers issued a statement, saying, “After much consideration and evaluation of the limited registration, we regret that Ride The Rockies 2024 is cancelled. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the towns, participants, sponsors, crew, volunteers, and supporters who have had a role in making this ride so special for the past 37 years.”

Riders who had registered will be issued refunds, according to the event website. Refunds will automatically be processed back to the original payment method within 60 days of submission from EnMotive, according to the website.

In the event the refund cannot be processed to the original payment method, a check will be mailed to the address listed in the registration. Participants will also receive a commemorative jersey. Additional inquiries are invited to request information via email: info@ridetherockies.com.

The Ride the Rockies website invites cyclists to consider alternative events, such as Tour of the Battenkill and RAGBRAI.

Little information was offered on the future of the event, but the event organizers stated on the website, “We are assessing the best options for this beloved ride.”
