A few days ago, we posted a story about Denver resident Tyler Gorrell, 33, who has been missing for over a week after leaving his car at a trailhead in Silverthorne on August 3rd. According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, this search has officially been suspended due to lack of leads or clues that may lead to his discovery.
According to one report by the Summit Daily, 72 people were used to search for Gorrell, totaling more than 510 hours of searching.
While Gorrell is an experienced hiker with knowledge of the Summit County trails, friends and family have stated that he’s not the type to set out on overnight treks.
If new clues resurface, the search will be reinitiated.
While enjoying outdoor recreation activities, it’s important to remember that there are associated risks and that accidents can happen to anyone. Take precautions like informing friends where you’re headed and when you’ll be back prior to leaving for a hike or climb. Prepare for any type of weather you may encounter and always have a back-up plan for tracking where you’re at that doesn’t rely on batteries or technology.
