Colorado State Patrol recently reported that they arrested a speeder going more than twice the speed limit while allegedly intoxicated – in a construction zone.

On the evening of May 7, the Colorado Springs branch of CSP shared an image from an arrest that involved a driver traveling an alleged 100 miles per hour in a 45 mile-per-hour speed limit construction zone. The driver was ultimately arrested for driving under the influence.

The specific location of the incident was left off the public announcement made by CSP, though based on the image they shared, the incident appears to have taken place on Colorado Highway 115. That's the road that travels out of Colorado Springs and toward Cañon City.

El Paso County, where Colorado Springs is located, is where the most impaired driving citations were handed out in 2023, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
