The internet has been abuzz about ‘Blucifer,’ the giant blue mustang at Denver International Airport, since a Facebook page called “Denver Tribune” erroneously reported that this iconic statue was being taken down. In following hours, the post was shared more than 10,000 times, garnering close to 6,000 comments. This suggests a possible online reach in the millions.

Some people rejoiced, voicing their hatred for the statue, while others were up-in-arms about the alleged removal. We can assure you that it’s not coming down, at least not any time soon – according to an official spokesperson representing Denver International Airport.

At the moment, it’s unclear what the purpose of the post was – perhaps to get free attention for the newly formed Facebook page or simply to cause a stir on the internet. There was no mention on the page about posts being intentionally satirical in nature.

A few odd lines from the original post that raised suspicion about it’s legitimacy included quotes from the “governor of Denver,” mentions of the “Casa Bonita Courthouse,” and claims that suspicious deaths occurred following the “last planned meeting” regarding the statue’s removal.

This instance is another reminder to be wary about unsubstantiated reports and to always check your sources.
