Colorado State Patrol has revealed which of the state's counties accounted for the most 'impaired driving' citations in 2023, and the data reveals a few surprises.

In total, 4,120 'impaired driving' citations were handed out by Colorado State Patrol last year – and remember, that doesn't include those also handed out by local law enforcement.

Ranking first was El Paso County, which makes sense – it's the most populated county in Colorado, home to Colorado Springs and multiple major highways.

Following El Paso County were Adams County, Jefferson County, Weld County, and Larimer County, in that order.

Interestingly, two of the state's 'top three' most populated counties were left off that list – Denver and Arapahoe. That could have something to do with local law enforcement accounting for more of the enforcement of traffic laws in these areas.

Either way, there's the breakdown of where Colorado State Patrol hands out the most 'impaired driver' citations in Colorado.

"The message is simple. If you plan on going out and drinking or taking drugs is a part of that event, it's up to you to plan a sober ride home. If you can’t or don’t want to stay at the location until you are sober, there are many options: ride shares, taxis, public transportation, a sober friend/family member, or walk," reads a press release on the matter from Colorado State Patrol.

“Being arrested for impairment can have long-term consequences that shouldn’t be underestimated,” stated Col. Matthew C. Packard, chief of the Colorado State Patrol. “It impacts your job, family situation, financial situation and more.”

Be interesting to know the city breakdown. I love the pot smokers who think they are driving just fine! Lol

So just to be sure:

Being wound-out on caffeine for the morning drive to work is still perfectly fine?

Asking for the sake of millions.

Pretty sure caffeine does not impress vision, motor skills, reaction times like alcohol and pot does. If you are imparted, don't drive, that not a right. My oldest brother was killed at 8 years old by a woman who decided she was fine.
