Parents always seem to be on the look-out for new destinations that they can enjoy with their children. That makes it no surprise that searches for 'good for kids' spots jumped a whopping 88 percent in 2023 compared to 2021, according to Yelp. While adults may travel to spots for the nightlife, music scene, or fine dining, 'family-friendly' destinations tend to feature more outdoor activities, affordable pricing, and convenience.
With interest in family-friendly things to do on the rise, Yelp recently released their 2024 list for the 'Top 10 Family-Friendly Travel Destinations' around the United States – and one mountain town in Colorado made the cut to be included.
Listed in the 5th spot on their list of 10 was Breckenridge, Colorado, home to year-round outdoor recreation fun.
Perhaps best known for its world-class ski resort, Breckenridge offers much more than just slopesport fun. And it's worth noting that the town's set-up makes it easy to book a hotel room that's within walking distance of an eclectic collection of downtown shops, restaurants, and more. The resort area also converts to a great spot for summer kid-friendly activities in the summer, with offerings including a mountain coaster, a scenic lift ride, a ropes course, climbing options, mini-golf, and more.
And don't forget that ziplining and paddleboarding can also be found in town, along with an arcade at Downstairs at Eric's sports bar and restaurant. Plus, kayaking on Lake Dillon is only a short drive away.
In other words, there's no shortage of fun to be had for the entire family at this Summit County spot. Plus, Breckenridge has a reputation for being a little cheaper than other well-known destinations like Vail and Aspen. But don't be surprised – visitors do pay mountain town prices for activities, though for how much Breckenridge has to offer, it's a great place to spend vacation funds. Cheaper options like hiking are also easy to find.
