A Colorado Springs man has been arrested in the murder of a 21-year-old woman whose body was found in a Walmart parking lot.
Joshua Alan Thomsen, 20, was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder Thursday after he called police to turn himself in. He told dispatchers that he had shot someone four times in the mountains before driving to the Walmart at 707 S. Eighth St. about 3:30 a.m., according to scanner traffic.
Investigators later determined that Amy Elizabeth Shrieves was shot and killed in the area of Eleven Mile State Park in Park County, police said in a news release.
Shrieves was also a resident of Colorado Springs and knew Thomsen.
In addition to one count of first-degree murder, Thomsen is facing charges of tampering with evidence and tampering with a deceased human body. He is being held in the Park County jail without bail.
