As rain continues to fall in the Front Range, it’s important to remember to risks of flooding and mudslides. Mudslides can occur when increased water flows starts to pull loose dirt into its stream, dragging the terrain along with it. In the video below from a few years ago, you’ll get a glimpse of how destructive these mudslides can be, displacing trees, rocks, and really, anything in its path.
Several risk areas include slopes leveled by wildfire, channels along rivers, and slopes that have been altered due to human construction.
