Colorado's natural spaces have been defaced once again with recent cases of vandalism that have occurred at Roxborough State Park.

Known for its dramatic red rock formations, officials at Roxborough State Park have recently seen an alarming increase in graffiti and rock carvings along hiking trails and scenic overlooks throughout the area.

“Roxborough State Park is a National Natural Landmark and a Colorado Natural Area. So designated for the scenic beauty and unique features that visitors come to cherish," park officials stated in a Facebook post on Sunday. “Recently, though, some visitors have decided to instantly detract from that beauty and spoil it for all of us.”

The state park is not the only natural space to fall victim to vandalism in recent weeks. Vandals recently struck at the Paint Mines Interpretive Park in Calhan, spray painting "love messages" on the fragile rocks.

Roxborough State Park is 3,339-acre park located in Douglas County about 20 miles south of Denver.

Editor's Note: Please do not carve, spray paint, scratch, or chalk any messages into the rocks and trees. Graffiti can be extremely difficult to remove, especially on these natural areas. Help keep Colorado looking beautiful by practicing the core principles of Leave No Trace.
