An emergency fish salvage is allowing anglers to catch as many fish as they can at Two Buttes Reservoir in Prowers and Baca Counties.

Brett Ackerman Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Southeast Region Manager announced a public fish salvage at Two Buttes Reservoir on Monday, December 2, due to the “imminent danger of catastrophic fish kill due to extremely low lake levels.”

Bag and possession limits have been suspended for Two Buttes Reservoir until further notice. This means anglers can keep all of the fish they catch. All anglers must have a valid Colorado fishing license and use only legal fishing methods.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife have also temporarily lifted all bag and possession limits at Haviland Lake in La Plata County until December 31, located just 19 miles north of Durango. The lake will be slowly drained in order to complete dam repairs.
