For Colorado’s true action junkies, there are few places better for training than heading to the Barn at Woodward at Copper Mountain. Woodward Copper’s facilities include the training barn, a location to train for skiers, snowboarders, and skateboarders year round, as well as winter terrain parks, and a number of summer facilities.
Woodward at Copper Mountain was initially designed as a training facility for some of the world’s best athletes. From its inception, Woodward Copper has provided great summer camps for pros to budding young athletes.
Every week during the summer season, a handful of snowboarding and skiing pros will use Woodward as their training headquarters. Young visitors can book for four to five week sessions in snowboarding, skiing, BMX riding, and other disciplines.
How do these athletes practice snowboarding in the summer? Woodward maintains several summer parks made up of the leftover snow from winter. The park crew that maintains the terrain parks for Copper Mountain during the winter also maintain these smaller summer parks for as long as weather permits. However, most summer training takes place in the Barn, full of foam pits and practice ramps.
Visitors can find Woodward at Copper Mountain off of Exit 195 from I-70 West. Summer season passes start at $289.
