A woman identified as mid-40s and from out-of-state has died following a fall during her descent down Mount Royal on Sunday evening. Mount Royal is located just outside of Frisco, Colorado (see map below). She was in a party of three when the accident occurred. She was approximately 1,500 feet from the bottom of the climb when she stumbled and fell.

Updates will continue as more details emerge.

This is the third fatal hiking accident to occur in Summit County this summer (in less than a month), preceded by Hannah Taylor’s death in July and a later death on Quandary Peak. At the time of publishing this article, another man is missing in the Summit County backcountry.
