Red Rocks Amphitheatre has topped the outdoor music venue list so many times that it has become the standard against which Coloradans judge their concert experiences. In addition to the classic Morrison venue, we’ve also compiled a list of our other favorite outdoor music venues, and while they don’t compare in scale to Red Rocks’ natural acoustic wonder, their intimate atmosphere and beautiful scenery make these destinations ones that you’ll want to add to your list.

6. City Park Bandshell, 1770 York St., Denver

There’s no better way to end the workday then relaxing with a picnic on the lawn at this iconic Denver landmark. Since famed Denver architect Jules Jacques Benois Benedict built the Pavilion and Bandshell in 1929, they have been a gathering place for Denverites—a tradition that has continued with the annual City Park Jazz summer series.

5. Planet Bluegrass Ranch, 500 W. Main St., Lyons

The home of the annual RockyGrass Festival epitomizes Colorado outdoor music venues. For a true Colorado experience, camp among the natural red cliffs and pines, and jam along with bluegrass legends as well as up-and-coming NewGrass groups.

Escape from fast-paced city life at this unique venue, which is known for its sophisticated shows and gorgeous surrounding arboretum.

3. Mishawaka Amphitheatre, 13714 Poudre Canyon Rd., Bellvue

This riverside inn and venue located northwest of Fort Collins has been a destination for music lovers since its inception in 1916. Jam bands and their fans flock to this out-of-the-way rustic stage each summer to enjoy the perfect combination of music and nature.

2. Hudson Gardens & Event Center, 6115 S. Santa Fe Dr., Littleton

This 30-acre garden can host up to 3,250 concertgoers at its outdoor The beautiful grounds, superior acoustics, and accessible location have made this venue one of Denver’s best-kept secrets.

The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead—these are just a few of the greats who have played on this world-famous Sunset over the Rockies and the Denver metro area accompanies the acoustically perfect sound that bounces off the surrounding rocks.
