Things To Do

The Pueblo Zoo is a wonderful example of the best that small city zoos have to offer. The zoo, located on 25 acres in City Park, is home to over 400 animals of 120 distinct species, with perennial favorites such as lions, penguins, otters, and African wild dogs. The zoo’s small size allows visitors to explore the exhibits, including Serengeti Safari, Asian Adventure, Australian Outback, and North American Grasslands, at a leisurely pace. In the 1920s, Pueblo’s public collections of captive animals were moved to the current zoo location. Other activities and amenities include gardens, a gift shop, dining, and a petting zoo for the little ones.

Pro Tips:

  • Be sure to check out area attractions after your zoo visit, including the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center. Enjoy other amusements and recreational opportunities in City Park, or try out the culinary scene, shopping, and Whitewater Park in downtown Pueblo.
  • Recommended season(s): Year-round.
