The Mount Muscoco Trail offers a 3.6-mile roundtrip hike from the Mount Cutler Trailhead to the airy summit of the 8,020-foot mountain in North Cheyenne Cañon Park. The 1.8-mile-long hike follows a good trail, gaining almost 1,400 feet from car to summit. The first trail section follows the wide Mount Cutler Trail to a saddle, and then heads up Muscoco’s blunt east ridge to a final steep scramble. The rocky summit offers some of the best mountain views near Colorado Springs, with a panorama that includes Cheyenne Mountain, South Cheyenne Cañon, Mount Rosa, Mount Almagre, and Tenney Crags. Sprawling Colorado Springs and the tawny prairie stretches to the eastern horizon. The trail was reconstructed in 2015, turning a rough social path into one of the Pikes Peak region’s best hikes.
Recommended season(s): Year-round.
