I love podcasts. Being a proud dog dad, I spend a lot of time walking, thus a lot of time listening through one headphone – around 2 hours a day. As you might expect, there are a few Colorado-themed podcasts that you should be listening to if you’re not already. Here’s a breakdown of a few of my favorites:
1. The OutThere Colorado Podcast
4.6 Stars, 80 Ratings, 24 Episodes
Duh, I’m the host. Obviously I’m going to promote my own show. However, I really do think that our show is a podcast every adventurous Coloradan should check out. From covering historical events like the Big Thompson Canyon flood to digging into what makes the Sand Dunes work to sharing a few of my favorite Colorado adventures, this is a show I really hope you’ll enjoy. Go download the OutThere Colorado Podcast today.
Plus, we just got a new studio set-up, so look forward to higher-quality recordings and more episodes on the way.
2. Colorado Cold Case
4.6 Stars; 56 Ratings; 20 Episodes
Though not outdoor recreation-related, this true crime podcast covers two different cold cases in Colorado Springs over two seasons. It’s got a similar style to the popular podcast Up and Vanished, with investigative reporter Kaitlin Durban working to track down details about two cases that have yet to be solved. It’s addicting and a great show for a long road trip into the mountains.
3. Colorado Experience
4.7 Stars; 15 Ratings; 67 Episodes
If you love outdoor recreation and you love history, you’ll definitely find the Colorado Experience podcast interesting. The show covers a wide range of topics from ghost towns to dinosaurs to early inhabitants of the state. New episodes seem to have stopped in November of 2018, but there are plenty evergreen segments still available to download.
4. Colorado Matters
4.7 Stars; 74 Ratings; 300 Episodes
Produced by Colorado Public Radio, Colorado Matters covers a wide range of topics relevant to life in Colorado from biking safety to politics to current events. They publish new content very regularly, so if you’re like me and listen to a lot of podcasting, Colorado Matters might be for you.
5. The Mile High Outdoor Show
Hosted by Miles Dunklin and part of the Mile High Sports family, the Mile High Outdoor Show features a series of interviews with various outdoor recreation personalities from around the state, including outdoor photographer Danny McGee, American Ninja Warrior Brian Arnold, and Russell Carlton of Vail Resorts. Miles has a great on-air personality and the chats are always interesting. If you’re looking for a show that will have you feeling like you’re in the room for a great Colorado conversation, check this one out.
