Since sparking early Tuesday, the Buffalo Mountain fire in Summit County near Silverthorne has continued to grow. Current reports put it at 91 acres and just 250 feet from structures. No structures have been reported to be lost at this time.

As of 2:55 PM, 1,384 residences have been evacuated from Wildernest and Mesa Cortina neighborhoods with another 1,000+ residences on pre-evacuation notice. Buses are being used to take evacuees away from lower Buffalo Mountain.

If you’re in the impacted area, the evacuation shelter is located at the Silverthorne Recreation Center.

Multiple fire-fighting aircraft are on the scene. Buffalo Mountain is located north of Frisco and west of Silverthorne. Buffalo Mountain is part of the Gore Range.
