Scheduled to officially open its doors in Aurora on December 18, 2018, the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center will be the largest combined resort & convention center in Colorado, according to a press release from Turner PR.
In total, the hotel will feature more than 1,500 rooms, including 14 suites that range from 1,500 to 2,200 square feet in size. Visitors will also be able to take advantage of a 17-room spa and a 75-foot viewing screen at the resort’s sports bar. Another impressive feature is sure to be the 22,000 square foot space dedicated to aquatic enjoyment, featuring indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a lazy river.
Perhaps the most stunning tidbit of information regarding this opening is that the resort has already sold one-million nights worth of stays, according to the Denver Business Journal, 81 percent of which have gone to upcoming conventions that have yet to hold an event in the Denver area.
What does all of this mean for Colorado? Having a resort of this size that’s built for conventions will likely continue to bring more new industry-based groups to the Denver-area. Not only will these visitors help boost the Denver economy by spending money during their trip, having new industries making the Mile High City a professional destination could continue to propel Denver to greater prominence in the business world.
