As confirmed cases of COVID-19 near 1,500 in Colorado (1,430 cases), some may be surprised that most cases have been found in the 30-39 age group, with this demographic accounting for 247 cases and 17 hospitalizations. The fifties age group has the highest number of hospitalizations.

While 53% of the total confirmed cases (751 cases) have been found in people under 50 years of age, including 27% (46) of hospitalizations, the hospitalization number nearly doubles when the age group includes 50-59, with the 20-59 age range accounting for 51% (86) of those hospitalized. There are 40 confirmed hospitalizations among the 50-59 age group, alone. Granted, the 20-59 age group has accounted for just 3 of 24 deaths in Colorado with most deaths occurring among those 80-plus.

Note that discrepancy of numbers does exist in official reporting. While the state is reporting that 184 people are hospitalized, they only include 168 in their demographic breakdown.
