While beer from the country's oldest brewery can be hard to come by in Colorado, that might not be the case for long. Molson Coors has announced the launch of a joint venture in partnership with Yuengling aimed at expanding Yuengling's current 22-state distribution network further west.
While the official announcement doesn't list specific states and notes that the expansion will be "measured and methodical," many assume that Colorado will be among the planned 25 new states to see Yuengling on liquor store shelves.
The deal states that Yuengling beers will be brewed and packaged at select Molson Coors' breweries with sixth-generation family member Jennifer Yuengling stating that "fans can expect the same Yuengling recipes and great taste they have come to love for more than 190 years."
Yuengling was started in rural Pennsylvania in 1829 and has been a favorite in eastern states for many decades. Existing operations that serve eastern states are not expected to change.
Brands like Yuengling Traditional Lager, Black & Tan, and Flight are expected to start appear in new markets in the second half of 2021.
