A black bear got lucky after falling through thin ice near Lake Tahoe, California.

A clip uploaded to Rumble shows the bear venturing out onto the ice and falling through into freezing cold lake water. Luckily, the bear was able to get out on his own.

If you listen closely to the video, you can hear the ice start to crack under the bear's paws.

The caption of the video reads "My family was invited to celebrate one of my good friend's birthday in Lake Tahoe. She rented the house through Airbnb and this is their backyard where we witness this event. On the original video, you will hear when the ice started to crack. This whole scenario lasted 4 mins. My friends tried to call Animal Control, but before they were able to speak to someone, the bear was able to pull himself up."

Remember, no ice is safe ice! Keep pets leashed for safety reasons. If a pet or person falls through the ice, don’t attempt a rescue yourself. Instead, call 911 immediately for help.
