The wild moment when a deer crashed through the windshield of a Virginia school bus on Thursday was caught on surveillance video.

The deer plunged through the windshield of a school bus carrying high school students in Powhatan County, landing directly on top of a student snoozing in the front row.

Watch it below with NBC News.

“He’s laying there asleep and the deer comes in, lays on top of him and rolls off onto the floor,” Brian Bartlett, head of transportation for Powhatan County Schools, told WWBT.

The bus driver kept his "cool," slowing down and opening the front doors as the startled deer quickly fled from the bus and back into the wild. Thankfully, both the deer and student were uninjured.

Editor's Note: Deer are wild animals. If you see a deer wandering around town or on the trail, please do not approach it or ever try to feed it!
