Colorado Parks and Wildlife crews recently took to the skies above Colorado to determine whether or not the Cameron Peak Fire inhibited local elk herds from finding wintering grounds.

As biologist Angelique Curtis observed from above, she was able to determine that a healthy elk population was still present. More on that to come, but for now, check out this stunning footage a massive herd of elk.

If you happen to encounter elk while you're out and about exploring Colorado, admire their beauty from a distance. Never try to approach, touch, or feed these animals. Do your part to keep Colorado wild.
