While the next couple of days are expected to be relatively dry in Colorado, another storm system could move into the state on Sunday, bringing another chance of big snow totals with it.

According to Joel Gratz of OpenSnow.com, NOAA forecasts indicate that most mountains are expected to see between one and two inches of total precipitation from Sunday evening through Wednesday. This amount of precipitation is estimated to yield between one to two feet of snow. Gratz also included a model from the University of Utah in his daily report that indicates a similar forecast of up to two feet. It's also worth noting that this storm is expected to drop more than a foot of snow at multiple Colorado ski resorts (See full mapping and resort predictions on the OpenSnow.com website).

The National Weather Service forecast predicts that the snowfall will come in two waves. According to a 'hazardous weather outlook' that spans part of southern Colorado, the first wave of snow is expected to hit between Sunday night and Monday, with a second wave expected to land from late Tuesday into Wednesday. A similar 'hazardous weather statement' has been issued for the Front Range and central peaks, though snowfall may start on Saturday night in these areas.

While most of the snow from the incoming storm is expected to land in mountainous terrain, if cold temperatures are present, this could allow for accumulation in lower elevation areas.

Snow is currently on the radar for Denver on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday morning, though low temperatures are expected to barely dip below freezing. Colorado Springs is expected to be a bit colder, with lows consistently in the mid-20s as these waves of precipitation roll through. In the Springs, snow is on the radar Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Estes Park will likely see four consecutive days of snow from Sunday through Wednesday, while warmer temperatures in Boulder will likely result in precipitation coming as a rainy, snowy mix. Farther south, Pueblo may get early morning snow showers in Monday.

While snow is expected, this weather is still days away. Expect forecasts to solidify as the weekend hits. Check OpenSnow.com and the National Weather Service website for forecast updates.
