Tornado warning issued for area near Colorado Springs

A tornado warning has been issued for the area surrounding Black Forest, Colorado, as seen in the map below. The area stretches from Black Forest toward Falcon and Pikeview.

Hail dollar-size hail is possible. Close to 100,000 people live in the impacted area. The warning expires at 4:45 PM, though this is subject to extension.

This tornado warning comes as severe thunderstorms are hitting parts of the Front Range, with storms expected to last into the night.

If you’re in the area or nearby, you can do a few things to prepare. According to ready.gov, you should unplug electronic equipment, bring outdoor items inside if they might below away, remain inside the home, close windows and window fixtures, and make sure doors are securely fastened.
