Mountain-town police are searching for a black Volvo SUV with Texas plates after witnesses said they saw an unidentified driver flee the scene of an accident at a popular waterfall attraction.

The crash happened at the Bridal Veil parking lot in Telluride on Sunday at about 7:15 a.m.

At 365 feet in height, Bridal Veil Falls are the tallest free-falling falls in Colorado. Hikers, mountain bikers, four-wheel drivers, and ice climbers are attracted to the popular waterfall destination nestled outside the historic mining town of Telluride.

The San Miguel County Sheriff says the vehicle may have damage to the top of the grill and possibly to the front of the hood.

No injuries were reported and it appears there is some damage to the property.

Anyone with information is asked to call Dispatch at 970-728-1911. Callers may remain anonymous.
