Colorado's largest fire continues to grow near Grand Junction.

An overnight mapping revealed that Pine Gulch Fire has grown to 68,323 acres. Yesterday morning, the blaze was reported at 51,455 acres.

In better news, crews were able to hold an important fire line overnight at Roan Creek. As of the latest report, 658 personnel are working this blaze. Containment remains at just 7 percent with additional growth expected and high rates of spread possible amid dangerous fire conditions.

Pine Gulch Fire was started on July 31 by lightning and has spread rapidly since.

Pine Gulch Fire is now the 6th largest wildfire in Colorado's recorded history, surpassing the 416 & Burro Fire Complex at 54,129 aces. The 5th largest fire is the Missionary Ridge Fire, which reached 71,739 acres before it was stopped. Colorado's largest fire ever is the Hayman Fire, which reached 137,760 acres and killed five firefighters.

This is a developing story.
