A pack of Porsches got caught barreling down a highway in Gilpin County at more than 80 mph last week — double the posted speed limit, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

The CSP of Gaming shared the incident on Twitter stating, "pro tip-if you and your 9 buddies get caught at 80+ in a 40 zone, all of you get tickets. And because it takes a LONG time to write 10 tickets, your dinner plans get messed up."

The CSP pulled over all ten Porsches, issuing every one of the lead foot drivers a speeding ticket on Thursday.

"Better, we think, than injuring or killing someone because of your selfish behavior. Please slow down," The CSP of Gaming added.

According to Colorado General Assembly, a violation of driving "25 or more mph over the reasonable and prudent speed, or over the maximum lawful speed of 75 mph" is a class 2 misdemeanor traffic offense. This violation generally carries up to 90 days in jail and/or $150 to $300 in fines.

Reckless speeders have been caught whizzing by state troopers all over Colorado in recent months, some going more than 150 miles an hour. Excessive speeding in Colorado is particularly dangerous due to the ample wildlife around the state. Even if a driver feels like they're under control and they're in a car meant to handle high speeds, a surprise wildlife collision can have serious, often fatal, consequences.
