More winter weather is in the forecast for Colorado, with another wave of snow and ice set to hit mid-week before a stretch of warmer and dry weather that will start this weekend.

Parts of the Colorado woke to up to 23 inches of fresh power on Monday morning, with most of the snowfall set to taper off between the afternoon and evening hours.

"Snow showers could be moderate to heavy at times in portions of southwest and central Colorado before ending this evening", according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

While the weekend wave of snow will come to an end, another wave of snow approaches.

Expect another round of wintry weather from Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning in some parts of the state. Snow, ice, and freezing rain are expected across the southern mountains and parts of the plains, with the highest chance for freezing rain near the Colorado and Kansas border. Record cold temperatures with lows down to -15 degrees accompanied by sub-zero windchills are also forecasted to persist throughout the evening hours of Tuesday.

Locations in the northeast and north-central part of the state can expect to see a prolonged period of dry weather starting up again on Tuesday. What's likely to start out as cool fall weather will gradually get warmer throughout the week with highs jumping back into the 50s and possibly even the 70s by the weekend.
