According to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, a 30-year-old Texan man identified as Evan Gaw has been arrested for second-degree murder after a shooting death occurred at a campground north of Pueblo.
On Wednesday night at about 10:30 PM, deputies responded to the report of shots fired at the KOA Campground north of Pueblo along Interstate 25. Upon arriving, they saw a man that appeared to be deceased with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
After spotting the body, deputies quickly located suspect Gaw in a nearby field and took him into custody. A gun was also recovered.
Rescue personnel later arrived to pronounce the victim deceased. The identity of the 30-year-old victim has not yet been released.
It is unclear what led to the shooting. Gaw and the victim, also from Texas, had rented a spot at the campground for the night together. The investigation is ongoing.
