More than 30 cars got at least one flat tire on the stretch of I-70 between Lookout and Evergreen in Colorado on Monday and the incident has authorities asking the public for information.
According to Colorado State Patrol – Golden, the source of the flat tires was a box of screws that likely fell out of someone's vehicle. An initial tweet stated that at least 36 vehicles had at least one flat tire. The incident occurred at about 3:40 PM on Monday afternoon.
While the incident didn't result in any lane closures, it left the Colorado State Patrol scrambling to help people fix tires and call for tow trucks as cars started to line the side of the road. The Colorado Department of Transportation was also required to assist in removing the screws from the road.

The possibility of whether or not the screws were intentionally placed on the road was not addressed in the initial announcement, though authorities are hoping to contact the person that the screws belonged to. The authorities have asked anyone who may have witnessed a box being lost on this stretch of road to contact CSP Golden at 303-239-4501.
