According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, Palisade Rim Trail near Palisade, Colorado has been closed due to a search for an assault suspect that is taking place in the area.

The public is asked to avoid this trail until further notice. The suspect is described as an adult male, 5' 6" to 5' 7", wearing dark clothing and a face covering.

Those with information that may be relevant to the search have been asked to call 911.

Palisade Rim Trail is a 3.3-mile trail that is heavily trafficked. It is known for providing great views of the surrounding area.

Details about the assault case were not included in the release about the trail closure, nor was the identity of the suspect.
