Denver residents have been ordered to “stay at home” as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to grow around the state.
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock issued the new public health order on Monday, which will go into effect at 5:00 PM on Tuesday and last until at least April 10. Shopping at grocery stores, attending medical appointments, and exercising outdoors will still be allowed while maintaining social distancing.
The order also extends to closing recreational marijuana and liquor stores, playgrounds, golf courses, tennis courts, basketball courts, picnic areas, and other similar areas. Medical marijuana shops are expected to remain open. Restaurants will also continue to provide take-out services.
Here’s a look at what people are saying about the stay-at-home order issued for Denver:
Holy crap did Hancock just shut down Denver? — Josh Sherman (@Sherman721) March 23, 2020
So dumb for just denver to be put on a stay at home order when we have so many other towns just outside of Denver. People who live in Denver don’t always work in Denver 🤦🏼♀️ — amanda (@amomda_) March 23, 2020
