Trail maintenance and repairs at one of the most popular outdoor recreation spaces in Colorado Springs will send hikers on a 3.3-mile detour this week.

According to Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services, Red Rock Canyon Open Space will close Intemann Trail between the Waterfall Trail and the Section 16 Connector Trail starting on Tuesday, October 6th for maintenance. Work along this section will be focused on repairing retaining walls.

The temporary trail closure is expected to last one week, including the indicated section of Intemann Trail from 7 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday.

The map shows the location for the work site outlined in red and the suggested 3.3-mile detour outlined in orange.

"If work is not completed by Friday, the trail will still be open on the weekend” Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services stated in a Facebook post.
