Don’t Miss These 11 Summit County Holiday Events

Summit County has awoken from its mud season slumber, and it’s ready to entertain. Don’t miss these upcoming holiday events full of delicious food, drinks, music, snow competitions and more. Join in the festivities for these Summit County holiday events and appreciate the special mountain community that comes together to make each holiday merrier.

1. Wassail Days

The 10th annual Wassail Days in Frisco marks the true start of winter in Summit County. On December 1—10, 2017, come taste local businesses’ homemade wassail: hot spiced cider. Fill out your 12 Sips of Wassail Card and bring it to the Frisco/Copper Information Center in exchange for a commemorative Frisco Wassail Days mug.

Wassail isn’t just about the cider. Friday, December 1, 2017, is the Frisco Holiday Tree Lighting at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, December 2, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Santa is coming. Monday, December 4, there is free tubing at Frisco Adventure Park from 4 to 6 p.m.

2. Holiday Bazaar

The annual  Holiday Bazaar will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Silverthorne Pavilion. Shop local art and crafts while enjoying live entertainment. Make sure to be on your best behavior—Santa’s coming to town.

3. The Soup Cup Classic

On Sunday, December 3, 2017,  The Soup Cup Classic is from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Frisco Adventure Park Day Lodge. Local restaurants and amateur cooks will compete for Best Professional Soup and Best Amateur Soup titles. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for kids ages 12 and under. Entry includes unlimited soup tasting, two drinks (New Belgium beer for adults ages 21 and older) and unlimited tubing from 4—6 p.m.

4. Lighting of Breckenridge

The annual  Lighting of Breckenridge and  Race of the Santas down Main Street is on December 2, 2017. The Handmade Holiday Market, carolers, the Holiday Dog Parade, Santa Meetings, and more will make a full day for getting into the holiday spirit. 5. Lighting of Dillon

December 7, 2017 starting at 5:30 p.m., watch the Lighting of Dillon and ring in the holidays at the Dillon Community Church with caroling, homemade cookies, sweet treats and visits from Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

6. Dew Tour

The Dew Tour is back at Breckenridge Resort’s Freeway Terrain Park from December 14—17, 2017. The events will serve as Olympic qualifiers for men’s and women’s snowboarding and skiing halfpipe and slopestyle. Don’t miss the Team Challenge and Streetstyle competitions as well as tons of other events on and off the snow, including the Dew Tour Concert, Powder Magazine POWDER AWARDS, the In-Town Festival, and more. 7. Santa and Carols at A-Basin

Christmas Eve, from 11 a.m.—1 p.m., come to the mountain Goat Plaza where Saint Nick and one of his elves will handout candy before making their rounds. The Summit County Choral Society will carol in the base area throughout the afternoon.

8. Christmas Eve at Copper

Santa is making another stop at Copper Mountain on Christmas Eve to wish all of the children a happy holiday. Guests can enter their kids into the Glow Pageant and stick around to watch the Torchlight Parade down Main Vein, a holiday tradition.

9. New Year’s Eve at Keystone

Say goodbye to 2017 with an evening of lights and sweet treats. Between the Torch Light on Dercum Mountain, the fireworks display in Lakeside Village and cookie decorating in the Adventure Center, the whole family can welcome 2018 with big smiles. Check out other Keystone Winter Wonderland activities like Chef Ned’s Chocolate Village, Chocolate Tours and weekly fireworks throughout December.

10. Ullr Fest

For 55 years, Breckenridge has celebrated the coming of snow with Ullr Fest. This season, between January 10—13, 2018 the Town of Breckenridge is hosting an array of activities to welcome winter. Bring your retired Christmas trees to the big bonfire, take a splash into the Ullr Ice Plunge, watch or participate in the parade and maybe even take a drink as Ullr enthusiasts attempt to break the record for the World’s Longest Shot Ski.

11. International Snow Sculpture Championships

The International Snow Sculpture Championships are back for the 28 th year. Sculptors come from all over the world to create masterpieces from 12-foot-tall ice blocks using only hand tools. From January 16—21, 2018 is the technical week where you can watch and volunteer to help create sculptures. January 22—26, 2018 is the Sculpting Week and January 25—29, 2018, guests can come see all the finished fine work lit up at night. Check out the schedule online for more details.
