Authorities are seeking information about a hit-and-run accident that left one scooter rider dead and another seriously injured over the Labor Day weekend in Colorado.

According to the Denver Police Department, a scooter rider was killed early Labor day morning after being struck by what police believe was a 2005-2010, silver Chevrolet Cobalt traveling at a "high rate of speed" in downtown Denver.

The collision involving two individuals riding stand-up electric scooters occurred in the left lane of Arapahoe Street at about 1:30 a.m. One of the riders died after being launched onto the sidewalk and the other suffered serious injuries.  

The driver of the vehicle did not stop after colliding with the two scooter riders, turning south onto Speer Boulevard.

The hit-and-run suspect vehicle may have noticeable damage to the front grill, hood, and windshield area along with a missing exterior mirror from the passenger side, .

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
